What is dofollow?

So many bloggers and internet marketers ask; what is dofollow? Today I answer this ongoing question of what is dofollow.

I know that you are definitely doing some type of backlink building, for your business or website; what is dofollowand most likely you have heard marketers talking about dofollow, and also ask what is dofollow.

Ok so let’s answer this question of what is dofollow.

Basically dofollow is when the search engines like google, bing, or yahoo crawls the all of the links on a website, it could be any type of website. To make things super simple for you dofollow is basically when a website owner allows every link in their website to get crawled by the search engines so that the links will get link juice, as a result increasing pagerank.

Any type of website could be dofollow, as long as the website owner allows all links on the website to be crawled by the search engines.

There such websites as dofollow forums, blogs, directories, etc.. it could be any type of website. You know what I mean like when marketers say dofollow blogs. Marketers ask what is dofollow.

What are the benefits of dofollow?

The benefits of dofollow is that all links will be crawled, gain link juice for seo, and as result pagerank will increase and website authority will increase.

@Yaisa all of these three plugins accomplish the same task of, making your blog dofollow. You could do a little research to see which one you like best, but all three will get the job done.

    Hey Kenny!!

Nofollow links are also very important as they make the link building process look natural. Real people can follow nofollow links and that is what which is more important. If you are getting even nofollow links from the relevant & authority website then you can get quality traffic.
The most important thing is the quality & relevance of the backlinks.

@Rizwan I agree with you a hundred percent my brother, nofollow is very important it helps protect against spammers, bots, and it helps our link building look natural as you put it

      • Rizwan Sultan on March 14, 2012

But I saw mostly people deny it’s importance.

        • kennyfabre on March 14, 2012

@Rizwan yes alot of people dont think nofollow is important, because they havent educated themselves on it, and they do not know the use for it, and plus they dont know how to use it LOL :)

  • Pete Bailey on June 4, 2012

Hi Kenny, thanks for an interesting read and yes most bloggers are just looking for link juice but there are those who know that adding quality comments to any blog has a two way benefit.

The commenter gets a backlink that has more likelihood of being clicked attracting traffic to his or her own blog.
The blog owner gets good content more likely to be read, and if the comment contains relevant SEO keywords it adds a little more page rank and link juice.

Personally I comment on both follow and no follow blogs simply because they are on the first page when I make my google search telling me that the blogs are popular and there’s traffic to be had.

I always read a post then take a look around before commenting because the backlink is more valuable to me than the google bot, making the fact that a blog is follow or no follow irrelevant. I suppose it depends on the type of traffic you want.

Thanks for an interesting post, Pete Bailey

@Pete yes I agree its a two way street with commenting, personally and truthfully when I read a blog, I comment to drive traffic and provide value to the blog owner at the same time
