Much love to you my friend. I just learned something new today we target our first time blog commenters.

I learned that I could get my first time blog commenters to opt-in my email list in an easy and simple way.

Of course you know why I’m writing this; to teach you my reader how to build your email list through your first time blog commentersblog commenters. I’m so grateful to have you as my reader, always know that.

Let’s face it we both know the power of commenting on other internet marketers blogs. I’m pretty sure you’re getting some great website traffic from commenting on other blogs, and you sure know and understand the experience of being a first time blog commenter.

One of the best and most effective ways to get your first time blog commenters to opt-in your email list is to create a “thank you page”

We all know what a thank you page is for, it’s basically to show a sign of gratitude, and appreciate for another marketer doing something to benefit us. In this case we will utilize the “thank you page” to get our first time blog commenters to opt-in our email list.

The best way is redirect your first time blog commenters to a “thank you page” where you add your email list opt-in box.

But there is a trick to this. I have a format for the thank you page, before we really get into this here is my actual thank you page, take a look at it to get an overview and idea on how to get your first time blog commenters to optin your email list. (WARNING: I kept my “thank you page” really simple, I encourage you to create your “thank you page” in your own unique way) Here Is My “Thank You Page” http://www.kfm24.com/thank-you-first-time-commenter/

To get our first time blog commenters to opt-in our email list we will use a wordpress plugin called “Comment Redirect”

Comment Redirect is a wordpress plugin that redirects your first time blog commenters to the page of your choice as soon as they post their first comment on your blog, and like I said I strongly recommend you us comment redirect to redirect your first time blog commenters to a “thank you page” to build your email list.

Below at the End of this Format I Have Created a Tutorial Video For You.

Here Is the Format I Recommend You Setup you’re “Thank You Page” For Your First Time Blog Commenters Using Comment Redirect.

Top Section: Add your very own, friendly Thank you Message. To make this message more powerful you could include “I love you in it” or add a picture sends out the message “I love you”

Middle Section: Add your message asking them to please subscribe to your blog, email list or newsletter.

Bottom Section: Add your email list Opt-in box for them to subscribe to your email list.

@Yaisa yes building the email list is important and so many people are holding off on it, and I find this technique a super effective way to build our email list.

Of course if you have something for them that pays you well enough, it’s a lot less trouble to just BUY leads to fill your list.

    • kennyfabre on December 25, 2011

@Warren I understand what you are saying its easier to buy leads, but those leads will not work to well for you because simply you haven’t established a solid relationship with them

If you buy a list, how are so sure those people are interested in what you offer and how are so sure those email addresses are still active…so many questions surrounds buying a list…list building is mainly about relationship and then making them become customers or frequent reader of your blog…thanks for such an informative post!

@Iroko yes you are correct so many question marks about buying, an email list, the best way I recommend for a marketer to build an email list is to build it from scratch in the very beginning.

What a great idea, Kenny! I love that you shared this plugin because I’ve never heard of it. Another plugin you might be interested in that you can use to compliment this strategy is “Thank Me Later” which automatically sends an e-mail to your those who leave a comment on your blog. You could use it in a similar way, or to simply prompt them to further engage with your blog in the future. ;)

I think they are too different thing, thank me later will enhance interaction but commenter redirect will make them to optin to your mailing list, which you can automatically use to market later, one thing with Thank Me Later is that you are sending a mail to them to tell about your blog that they commented earlier!

@Iroko yes I agree with you I think they are two different plugins, but I will start using thank me later its very cool plugin

        • Mikayla on December 30, 2011

They’re definitely two different plugins, Iroko… that’s why I mentioned Thank Me Later to *compliment* the Comment Redirect plugin, not replace it. To be clear though, you can use Thank Me Later to do a number of things: 1) thank them for their comment (i.e. start building a relationship), 2) encourage them to sign up for your newsletter (i.e. build your list), 3) encourage them to come back and read your blog in the future (i.e. engage & interact), and 4) encourage them to subscribe to your RSS feed. ;)

This is really a great strategy for bloggers like me. I’ve never though of this before. Redirecting commenters to a “Thank You Page” with an opt-in form is really a unique way for us to build a list.

    Heads up for this one!
